Licensure

From the Desk of the Scotland County Licensure Specialist

Scotland County Educators,

Marinate on this question: "Am I a teacher? Or, Am I an educator?

  • The definition of a teacher is "one that teaches; especially: one whose occupation is to instruct."
  • The definition of an educator is "a person that who gives intellectual, moral, and social instructions."

Teaching a child a list of facts and helping them to sincerely understand a lesson and hope the students took away enough to pass the class.

Educating a child to ensure that students fully understand the lesson, to instill deep understanding that will be carried throughout their lives.

If you are beginning a new career as an educator, a veteran educator, or a student services educator, observing your desire is inspiring, and your dedication is impeccable.
