Continuing Education Unit (CEU) Requirements and DPI Licensure Link:
Renew or Update your Continuing Professional License:
- The renewal process ensures that Continuing Professional License (CPL) educators continue to engage in professional development within their content areas, literacy, and knowledge.
- The renewal process is every five years.
- The renewal process will automatically open by DPI in early to mid-May for the licenses that are expiring 6/30/XX of that year.
A unit of renewal credit (CEU) is equal to 10 clock hours of professional development
(i.e. 10 hours = 1.0 CEU Credit; 1 hour = 0.1 CEU Credit)
No need to open an application:
- Wait for an email notification from DPI stating that the renewal application has been opened
- Login to: vo.licensure.ncpublicschools.gov to complete the renewal application
- Pay the $35.00 DPI renewal fee online

How do I check my CEUs?
- CEUs for renewal are housed in LINQ (where you sign in for Timekeeper).
- Go to: www.scotland.k12.nc.us and click on "Staff Links" in the upper right corner. Click on the Time Keeper link and log in. On the left side under "Employee Profile", you will see "CEUs" - Click this link to view your CEU history.
How do I read my CEU history?
- Your current renewal period listed on the Current Line. The start and end dates are the dates of your license renewal cycle. ALL education license expire 6/30. Each category for CEUs is listed across the top in blue.
If I am in need of CEU's?
- You have access to FREE professional development courses through IAM/NCEdCloud? (Available to all NC Public and Charter School Teachers/Admins)

I earned CEU's, but it is not showing in my CEU history?
Offered at the school site and or district lead -
- School Site Academic Coach's are to assist educators with entering CEU's regardless if they were offered on school site, within the district or outside of the district.
- Notification and documentation should be provided to the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources for review and approval.
I have CEUs that I earned in another county or state. How do I have them added to my CEU history with CCS?
- Please send a copy of the CEU history to the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources for review, approval, and entry.
I took college courses and want to use them for CEUs, what do I do?
- If you completed courses or a degree within your current license cycle, submit official transcripts through LINQ/Timekeeper.
