Board Selects New Superintendent - Dr. Takeda LeGrand
The Scotland County Board of Education is proud to announce that Dr. Takeda LeGrand has accepted the Board’s offer to become Scotland County Schools’ new superintendent. Dr. LeGrand’s selection followed a thorough process with the help of the North Carolina School Boards Association, during which many talented and dedicated educators applied for the position. Even among a group of very impressive finalists, Dr. LeGrand stood out. The Board is convinced she is exactly the leader that Scotland County Schools needs for the coming years, and enthusiastically welcomes her to our team.
Dr. LeGrand comes most recently from seven years as an associate superintendent in the Montgomery County Schools, during which her duties included, among many other things, a focus on accountability and diversity. Prior to her time in Montgomery County, Dr. LeGrand had served in Richmond, Anson, and Union Counties in various roles, including as a teacher, curriculum coordinator, assistant principal, and in human resources. She has also worked for the Department of Public Instruction in the areas of curriculum and instruction.
Dr. LeGrand’s official start date is January 1, 2021. The Scotland County Board of Education welcomes her and her family to our community and looks forward to a successful partnership for many years to come.
Please join us in welcoming Dr. LeGrand to our district and community! #SCSgrowsgreatness
