Announcements

  • SCS to Return to School Under Plan B

    return to learn

    Dear Scotland County Schools Parents, Guardians, Students, and Staff,

    During the Monday, September 28 Board of Education meeting, the Board decided to return to school under Plan B for the second nine-weeks of school which would begin October 12 for SEarCH and October 19 for all other schools.  Plan B will follow a staggered schedule with students whose last name starts with A – L attending school in-person on Monday and Tuesday, Wednesday would be a remote learning day for all students and allow for a deep cleaning of our buildings, and students whose last name begins with M – Z would come for in-person instruction on Thursdays and Fridays.  Combined households with varying last names follow the A - L schedule.  Please keep in mind that parents/guardians still have the option for their student to remain fully virtual and not attend school in-person for the second nine-weeks.

    CLICK HERE to view a video in which we share details about how a school day would look under the Plan B model.  We encourage you to view the video as we hope that it will answer many of the questions that you may have.

    Parents/Guardians also need to CLICK HERE to be directed to the Opt-In/Opt-Out Form that all parents and guardians must complete indicating if you would rather have your student return to school under Plan B or remain completely virtual.  To help us make plans for the second nine-weeks, we need you to complete this form for each of your students no later than Wednesday, October 7.  If you would like to print out a copy of this form and submit it in-person to your school, you may do so by clicking here.  Schools and the district office will have printed copies of the Opt-In/Opt-Out Form as well.

    And finally, as our partners in education, I want to personally thank you for all that you have done and all that you will continue to do to ensure our students and staff are successful.

    Sincerely,

    Cory Satterfield, Interim Superintendent

    Scotland County Schools

    Attention families! We are committed to expanding digital learning opportunities to ensure that all of our students have equal access. As you know, one of our digital initiatives is to issue devices to students for use both at school and at home. SCS has now expanded their 1:World initiative to include Kindergarten-2nd grade students being issued iPads. Our digital learning focus is to foster opportunities for students to use their devices to collaborate, create, and publish, always grounded in the foundation of our curriculum standards.

    Please review the following links for care and usage of devices. Anyone receiving a device will need to review these links and sign off when they pick up their device.
