Garrett's Law
Garrett's Law(Senate Bill 444) mandates that at the beginning of every school year, local boards of education shall ensure that schools provide parents and/or guardians with information about Meningococcal Meningitis, Influenza, and Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) and their vaccines. Parents/guardians can access this information at www.immunize.nc.gov, or your child's school from the school nurse.Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973
Special Notice – Child Find
It is the duty of the Scotland County schools to seek to identify and locate every qualified student with a disability residing in its jurisdiction who is not receiving an appropriate public education (Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973).Referrals may be initiated by parents, teachers, medical providers, and mental health providers knowledgeable of the student. Individuals wishing to make a referral may contact the school’s principal or the school’s Section 504 contact.For additional information, please contact:
