Scotland County Schools-School Health Advisory Council (SCS SHAC)
SCS School Health Advisory Council Vision: The Scotland County Schools-School Health Advisory Council (SCS SHAC) strives to educate, empower, and encourage its employees and students in their lifelong pursuit of wellness. Our commitment is to provide a workplace, classroom/school environment that promotes the progressive development of mental, physical, emotional, and social health. Through group activities, individual programs, educational opportunities, and community resources, we aim to equip our employees and students with the knowledge to live more healthful, professional and personal lives.
SCS School Health Advisory Council Mission: The mission of the Scotland County Schools-School Health Advisory Council is to provide a forum in which school and community representatives work together to address health and wellness issues in order to provide healthful living leadership within the school district.
The School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) serves as an advisory committee to promote student and employee health and wellness in compliance with state and federal requirements. The council helps plan, update, implement, promote, and monitor Board Policy 6140: Student Wellness as well as other health and nutrition issues within the school system. Aligning with The Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child (WSCC) model, SHAC focuses attention on ten key components:

- Health Services
- Social and Emotional Climate
- Nutrition Environment and Services
- Counseling, Psychological, and Social Services
- Physical Environment
