Members of SEARCH Native American Student Association (NASA) visited sites related to the history, culture and government of the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina. Students started off by visiting the Lumbee Cultural Center and learning about the history of the facility. They then attended a cultural presentation at the Givens Performing Arts Center at UNCP. After lunch, they participated in a private tour of the headquarters of the Lumbee Tribe, “The Turtle” Building. While there they were able to talk with representatives from tribal enrollment, youth services, and even got to spend time with the Tribal Chairman, Mr. John Lowery.
