    Vision

Scotland County Schools Exceptional Children's Department will graduate all students prepared to transition to adult life as contributing members of society, equipped with the tools needed to continue learning and live as independently as possible

    Mission

Scotland County Schools Exceptional Children's Department will ensure that all students develop physically, intellectually, emotionally, and socially through the provision of a free and appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment.

    Program Overview

Programs are available in the Scotland County Schools for students with special needs ages 3-21.  A broad curriculum of services is available to these children according to their individual needs.  The full continuum of services is available based on the needs of the students. The services include inclusion, resource classes, separate settings, and homebound services.  Related services needed in order for students to benefit from special education are available to children with special needs (these include, but are not limited to, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and special transportation).

Children may attend school outside their attendance area based on their individual needs.
